Abstract Around the world, the main problems of livestock are caused by ectoparasites, however, commercial acaracide are toxic to the environment and detrimental to One Health. Therefore, research has increasingly focused on development of natural products as alternatives for tick control. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the larvicidal effect on Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus, through use of essential oils (EOs) extracted from the leaves, flower buds and stems of Tetradenia riparia. The chemical composition of these EOs was determined through gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (GC-MS). They were tested on larvae at concentrations of 100.000 to 40 µg/mL, using the larval packet test and under semi-natural conditions. The main class of compounds in the chemical composition was sesquiterpenes (both oxygenates and hydrocarbons), whereas the predominant compounds in the leaves, flower buds and stems were 14-hydroxy-9-epi-caryophyllene, T-cadinol and 6-7-dehydroroyleanone, respectively. The leaves proved to be the most effective, with highest larvicidal activity (LC99.9 = 83.53 µg/mL). When tested under semi-natural conditions, the oils obtained efficiency above 98% in all compound tests. The results indicated that these EOs were effective against R. (B.) microplus larvae in vitro and ex-situ, proving that this plant has bioactive molecules with significant larvicidal activity.

Resumo Os principais problemas para a pecuária estão relacionados às ectoparasitoses, e ao fato dos carrapaticidas apresentarem elevada toxicidade ao meio ambiente e à saúde única. Surgem, então, demandas na busca por inovações e desenvolvimento de produtos naturais, como alternativas para o controle dos carrapatos. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o potencial da atividade larvicida sobre Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus a partir dos óleos essenciais de Tetradenia riparia (TrOEs) extraídos das folhas, botões florais e caules. A composição química foi determinada por cromatografia gasosa acoplada à espectrometria de massa (GC/MS). Os TrOEs foram testados sobre larvas nas concentrações de 100.000 a 40 µg/mL pelo teste de pacote de larvas e em condições seminaturais. Na composição química, a classe majoritária foi os sesquiterpenos (oxigenados e hidrocarbonetos); já os compostos em destaques foram 14-hidroxy-9-epi-caryophyllene, T-cadinol e 6-7-dehidroroyleanone para folhas, botões florais e caules, respectivamente. As folhas demonstraram ser mais eficientes e com maior poder larvicida (CL99.9 = 83.53 µg/mL). Quando testado em condições seminaturais os óleos obtiveram eficiência acima de 98% em todos os compostos testados. Os resultados indicaram que os TrOEs, foram eficazes sobre as larvas de R. (B.) microplus in vitro e ex-situ, evidenciando que esta planta possui moléculas bioativas com ação larvicidas significativas.

ABSTRACT Purpose analyze the effects of hospitalization in the Kangaroo Neonatal Intermediate Care Unit (UCINCa), the second stage of the Kangaroo Care (KC), on the development of oral feeding skills in preterm neonates. Methods an analytical observational study of the prospective longitudinal type, carried out in a public hospital in Southern Brazil, where infants were accompanied until hospital discharge. The sample consisted of 20 preterm neonates hospitalized at the UCINCa and 26 preterm neonates at the Conventional Neonatal Intermediate Care Unit (UCINCo), that were periodically evaluated through the levels of oral skill, in a bottle, according to the criteria of proficiency and milk transfer rate. The outcomes considered were a progression of the oral skill level, days of transition to obtain the full oral route, and days of hospital stay. Results the duration of transition to exclusive oral feeding was shorter for preterm neonates at the UCINCa (4.5 vs. 10 days) relative to those at the UCINCo (p = 0.041). By the third assessment, all preterm neonates at the UCINCa had reached level 4, while participants at the UCINCo only achieved this level of performance on the fifth assessment. The average number of days of hospitalization was four days shorter in UCINCa participants (p=0.098). Conclusion the admission to the UCINCa had been a further acceleration in the maturation of oral skills, which allowed for a faster transition to exclusive oral feeding as compared to neonates admitted in UCINCo.

RESUMO Objetivo verificar os efeitos da internação em Unidade de Cuidado Intermediário Neonatal Canguru (UCINCa), segunda etapa do Método Canguru, no desenvolvimento das habilidades de alimentação oral em recém nascidos pré-termo (RNPT). Método estudo observacional analítico do tipo longitudinal prospectivo, realizado em um hospital público no Sul do Brasil, com acompanhamento até a alta hospitalar. A amostra foi constituída por 20 RNPT internados na UCINCa e 26 RNPT na Unidade de Cuidado Intermediário Neonatal Convencional (UCINCo), que foram avaliados periodicamente por meio dos níveis de habilidade oral, em mamadeira, conforme os critérios de proficiência e taxa de transferência de leite. Os desfechos considerados foram progressão do nível de habilidade oral, dias de transição para obtenção da via oral plena, dias de internação hospitalar. Resultados o tempo de transição para obtenção da via oral exclusiva foi menor nos RNPT da UCINCa (4,5 dias versus 10 dias) quando comparados aos da UCINCo (p=0,041). Na terceira avaliação de habilidade oral, a totalidade de RNPT da UCINCa atingiu o nível 4, já os participantes da UCINCo somente alcançaram esse nível na quinta avaliação. A mediana dos dias de internação foi de quatro dias menor nos participantes da UCINCa (p=0,098). Conclusão a internação na UCINCa favoreceu uma aceleração no processo de maturação das habilidades orais, influenciando positivamente na transição alimentar oral do RNPT, na comparação com os RNPT internados na UCINCo.

Abstract Introduction: Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-COV-2) is a RNA virus that cause coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The clinical spectrum SARS-COV-2 infection ranges from asymptomatic infection to critical and fatal illness. The expression of host receptor for SARS-CoV-2 cell entry in placental tissue and the identification of SARS-COV-2 in the placental tissue supports that SARS-COV-2 infection may affect pregnancy outcomes. At the moment, there is some evidence of the impact of the infection in pregnancy and fetal outcomes especially in symptomatic cases. Objectives: The aim of this study was to review the current state of the art of SARS-COV-2 infection during pregnancy and risk of adverse maternal, pregnancy and fetal outcomes, and to assess when these outcomes are most likely to occur. Main text: Asymptomatic COVID-19 disease in pregnancy is common. When present, symptoms and signs are similar to those in nonpregnant individuals. Infected pregnant women have a higher risk of rapid clinical deterioration and symptomatic pregnant patients appear to be at increased risk of severe disease and death. There is no evidence of an increased risk of congenital abnormalities or pregnancy loss in women with COVID-19 during pregnancy. Vertical transmission does not seem to be common. There is an association between COVID-19 in pregnancy and preterm labour, cesarean delivery, preeclampsia and stillbirth. Conclusions: Maternal complications are expected in pregnant women with older age, obesity, preexisting comorbidities or unvaccinated. Adverse pregnancy and fetal outcomes are expected in pregnant women with symptomatic disease and when maternal infection occurs after 20 weeks of gestation.

Resumo Introdução: A síndrome respiratória aguda grave - coronavírus 2 (SARS-COV-2) é um vírus de RNA que causa a doença COVID-19. O espectro clínico da doença varia desde assintomática a infeção crítica e potencialmente fatal. A expressão de recetores que permitem a entrada do vírus na placenta e a identificação do vírus no tecido placentar sugere que a infeção pode afetar a gravidez. Atualmente, existe já alguma evidência do impacto da COVID-19 nos desfechos obstétricos e fetais. Objetivos: O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar o estado da arte relativamente à infeção por SARS-COV-2 na gravidez e o risco de desfechos maternos, obstétricos e fetais adversos e, ainda, analisar em que situações esses desfechos são mais prováveis de ocorrer. Texto principal: A infeção assintomática na gravidez é comum. Quando presentes, os sinais e sintomas são similares aos da população geral. Grávidas infetadas têm maior risco de rápida deterioração clínica e grávidas infetadas sintomáticas têm maior risco de doença grave e morte. Não há evidência de risco aumentado de anomalias congénitas ou perda gestacional em grávidas com COVID-19. A transmissão vertical não parece ser comum. Existe evidência da associação entre COVID-19 na gravidez e parto pré-termo, cesariana, pré-eclampsia e morte fetal intrauterina. Conclusões: Desfechos maternos adversos são mais prováveis de ocorrer em grávidas com infeção por SARS-COV-2 e idade avançada, comorbilidades, obesas ou não vacinadas. Desfechos obstétricos e fetais adversos são mais prováveis de ocorrer em grávidas infetadas sintomáticas, sobretudo doença grave, e quando a infeção ocorre após as 20 semanas de gestação.

RESUMO Objetivo Verificar a influência de um estímulo gustativo na pressão de sucção, durante a sucção não nutritiva (SNN), em recém-nascidos a termo, saudáveis e com peso adequado à idade gestacional. Método Estudo quase experimental do tipo ensaio clínico não randomizado com uma amostra de conveniência de 60 recém-nascidos (RN), 30 alocados no grupo estudo (GE) e 30 no grupo controle (GC). Os RN foram avaliados quanto à pressão de sucção, durante a SNN em chupeta. Para o GE foi adicionado estímulo gustativo à chupeta, umedecida com o colostro. O GC não recebeu nenhum estímulo, além da própria chupeta. As pressões média, mínima e máxima foram medidas com o equipamento S-Flex®. Resultados O GE apresentou pressão média e máxima de sucção significativamente maiores do que o GC. Ainda, houve diferença estatisticamente significativa, entre os grupos, para a 2ª medida da pressão média de sucção. Conclusão Os resultados demostraram que os RN do GE apresentaram pressões de sucção, média e máxima, significativamente maiores, quando comparados ao GC. A utilização de um estímulo gustativo associado à SNN modificou a pressão de sucção e parece potencializar as habilidades orais.

Abstract Purpose To verify the influence of a taste stimulus on the suction pressure, during the non-nutritive sucking (SNN), in newborns, healthy and with weight appropriate to the gestational age. Methods Quasi-experimental study of the non-randomized clinical trial type with a convenience sample of 60 newborns (NB), 30 allocated in the study group (EG) and 30 in the control group (CG). The NB were evaluated for sucking pressure during the SNN in a pacifier. For the EG, a gustatory stimulus was added to the pacifier, moistened with colostrum. The CG did not receive any stimulus, other than the pacifier itself. The average, minimum and maximum pressures were measured with the equipment S-Flex®. Results The SG presented mean and maximum sucking pressure significantly higher than the CG. In addition, there was a statistically significant difference between the groups for the second measurement of mean sucking pressure. Conclusion The results showed that the NB of the SG presented sucking pressures, average and maximum, significantly higher, when compared to the CG. The use of a taste stimulus associated with SNN modified the sucking pressure and seems to enhance oral skills.

Abstract Uterine rupture in pregnancy is a rare complication that can be life-threatening for the mother and fetus. The severity of the outcomes depends on factors such as size and location of the rupture and speed of intervention. We report a case of uterine rupture at a 26 weeks twins' gestation in a woman with previous laparoscopic myomectomy. She was admitted to the emergency department with abdominal pain and urinary frequency and a urinary tract infection was diagnosed. One week later, she was re-admitted with worsening abdominal pain and hemodynamic instability. An hemoperitoneum and uterine rupture were diagnosed during an emergency laparotomy. The mother survived with no complications. The neonates died on the first day due to complications associated with extreme prematurity. This case outlines that given the severity of a uterine rupture and the nonspecific symptoms associated, a high index of suspicion is mandatory in order to avoid poor outcomes.

Abstract Uterine leiomyomas are the most common gynecologic tumors and occur commonly in women of reproductive age1. Frequently they are asymptomatic, but they can present with abnormal uterine bleeding, abdominal pain and pressure symptoms if there is a large tumor size2. Hemoperitoneum due to spontaneous bleeding from a uterine leiomyoma is an extremely rare situation, with less than 100 cases described in literature3. We report a case of a 46 -year- old woman presenting acute abdominal pain with a spontaneous hemoperitoneum caused by a uterine leiomyoma.

Abstract Painful temporomandibular disorders (TMD) in children and adolescents may impact negatively the individual´s life. The presence of comorbidities associated with TMD tends to increase the persistence of pain and to facilitate its chronification. Objective To investigate the presence of other painful conditions and systemic diseases and their association with painful TMD. Methodology In this cross-sectional study, 690 adolescents aged between 12-14 years old were evaluated through questionnaires and clinical examinations. Results Painful TMD was found in 16.2% of the sample, with a significant association with bronchitis (OR= 2.5; p=0.003) and asthma (OR=3.1; p=0.013), reported by the parents/legal guardians of the participants. Adolescents with regional and widespread pain were 2.7 (95% CI: 1.65-4.55) and 3.6 (95% CI: 1.29-10.14) more likely to also present painful TMD. Painful TMD was associated with a higher number of body pain sites in the last 12 months (4.26 vs. 2.90; p<0.001), as well as a higher number of systemic diseases (1.48 vs. 1.18; p=0.048), when compared to adolescents without painful TMD. Conclusion The findings of this study point out the importance of considering the presence of comorbid conditions in the diagnosis and management of painful TMD in adolescents. A multidisciplinary approach would contribute to better control of painful TMD and decrease its chronification risk.

RESUMO: A finalidade principal do presente artigo é refletir sobre os debates que circundam a educação integral. Baseado em revisão bibliográfica de estudos específicos sobre essa temática, propõe um breve diálogo entre concepções de educação integral no Brasil e em Portugal, articulando-as com propostas no campo da educação não formal. São apresentadas observações sobre as peculiaridades da educação integral em ambos os países, atentos para outros jeitos de organizar o processo educacional, escapando de uma única lógica e do risco de institucionalização cada vez maior do tempo livre.

ABSTRACT: The main purpose of the article is to reflect on the debates surrounding full-time education, and based on a bibliographical review of specific studies on the subject, to propose a brief dialogue between the conceptions of full-time education in Brazil and Portugal, articulating them with proposals in the field of non-formal education. Observations on the peculiarities of full-time education in both countries are presented here, attentive to other ways of organizing the educational process, escaping from a single logic and the risk of institutionalization of free time.

RESUMO Objetivo determinar a confiabilidade do equipamento S-FLEX® para verificar pressão de sucção não nutritiva em recém-nascidos a termo. Métodos estudo transversal e quantitativo, com 30 recém-nascidos a termo, saudáveis, entre o primeiro e terceiro dia de vida, internados em um hospital terciário. Foram realizadas duas avaliações em cada recém-nascido, por dois examinadores distintos, com intervalo de quatro horas. Foram realizadas três determinações sucessivas da pressão máxima e a média de sucção não nutritiva, por meio do equipamento S-FLEX®. Para determinar a confiabilidade, avaliou-se a repetibilidade e a reprodutibilidade das medidas. Análise de variância e coeficiente de correlação intraclasse foram utilizados para análise dos resultados. Resultados a pressão máxima de sucção, na 1ª avaliação, foi de 10,44 (± 2,25), 10,12 (± 2,25) e 9,73 (± 2,61) mmHg, (p = 0,120), respectivamente para a 1ª, 2ª e 3ª medidas. Na 2ª avaliação, foi de 10,10 (± 2,35), 9,98 (± 2,02) e 10,37 (± 2,29), (p = 0,404). A pressão média de sucção na 1ª avaliação foi de 3,64 (± 1,04), 3,59 (± 1,04) e 3,56 (± 1,03), (p = 0,852) e, na 2ª avaliação, foi 3,59 (± 1,04), 3,51 (± 0,92) e 3,63 (± 1,04), (p = 0,721). Para a pressão máxima de sucção, o coeficiente de correlação foi de 0,708 (p = 0,001); para a pressão média foi de 0,828 (p<0,001), evidenciando boa e excelente correlação, respectivamente. Conclusão o S-FLEX® mostrou-se um equipamento confiável para determinar a pressão de sucção não nutritiva em recém-nascidos a termo, saudáveis.

ABSTRACT Purpose to establish the reliability of the S-FLEX® to measure non-nutritive sucking pressure in full-term newborns. Methods a cross-sectional and quantitative study was conducted in a tertiary hospital, on 30 one- to three-days-old infants born healthy and at term. Each newborn was evaluated twice, each time by a different examiner, at an interval of 4 hours. In each assessment, maximum and mean non-nutritive sucking pressure were measured three times consecutively. The reliability of the instrument was investigated by calculating the repeatability and reproducibility of these measurements. Repeatability was determined by analyzing the consecutive measures taken by each examiner using repeated-measures analysis of variance (ANOVA). Results the maximum sucking pressure was found to be 10.44 (± 2.25), 10.12 (± 2.25) and 9.73 (± 2.61) mmHg, (p = 0.120), in the first, second and third consecutive measurements, respectively. In the second evaluation, the values were 10.10 (± 2.35), 9.98 (± 2.02) and 10.37 (± 2.29) mmHg, (p = 0.404). The measurements of mean sucking pressure taken by examiner A in the first evaluation were 3.64 (± 1.04), 3.59 (± 1.04) and 3.56 (± 1.03) mmHg, (p = 0.852), respectively, and, in the second evaluation, 3.59 (± 1.04), 3.51 (± 0.92) and 3.63 (± 1.04) mmHg, (p = 0.721). The correlation coefficients between measurements of maximum and mean sucking pressure were 0.708 (p = 0.001) and 0.828 (p<0.001), which are indicative of good and excellent correlations, respectively. Conclusion The S-FLEX® can provide reliable measurements of maximum and mean non-nutritive sucking pressure in healthy full-term newborns.

RESUMO Objetivo Investigar o efeito imediato da fonação em tubo de silicone na autoavaliação e na qualidade vocal de cantores gospel. Método Amostra composta por 40 cantores gospel sem queixa vocal, ambos os sexos, 18 a 40 anos. Os cantores realizaram um exercício de trato vocal semiocluído de fonação em tubo de silicone LaxVox®, com uma extremidade submersa em água a 2cm de profundidade, por 3 minutos. Antes e após o exercício, foi realizada gravação da voz para avaliação perceptivo-auditiva, e somente após o exercício foi feita autoavaliação da voz e do conforto fonatório. Os dados foram analisados por meio de estatística descritiva e inferencial. Resultados Todos os participantes relataram melhora na voz, além de proporção significativamente maior de melhora do conforto fonatório pós-exercício. Na avaliação perceptivo-auditiva, não houve diferença na comparação das proporções das categorias da avaliação perceptivo-auditiva pré e pós-exercício em cantores gospel. Conclusão O exercício de fonação em tubo de silicone promoveu efeito imediato positivo na autoavaliação da voz e do conforto fonatório dos cantores Gospel. Não houve diferença significativa na avaliação perceptivo-auditiva pré e pós-exercício de fonação em tubo de silicone em cantores gospel.

ABSTRACT Purpose To investigate the immediate effect of phonation into silicone tube on self-assessment and vocal quality of gospel singers. Methods The sample was composed of 40 gospel singers without vocal complaint, males and females, from 18 to 40 years. The singers performed semi-occluded vocal tract exercise in LaxVox® silicone tube. The end of the tube was submerged in water (2cm depth), for three minutes. Before and after exercise, voice recording was performed for perceptive-auditory evaluation, and only after exercise, the voice and comfort phonation self-assessments (CSA) were performed. The descriptive and inferential statistical analysis were performed. Results All participants reported improvement in voice. In addition, a significant higher proportion of them indicated phonation comfort improvement after exercise. According to the perceptive-auditory evaluation, there was no difference in the comparison of the proportions of pre- and post-exercise perceptive-auditory evaluation categories in gospel singers. Conclusion The phonation exercise into a silicone tube caused an immediate positive effect on gospel singers’ voice and comfort phonation self-assessments. There was no significant difference in the perceptive-auditory evaluation before and after phonation into silicone tube in gospel singers.

RESUMO: A família Phyllostomidae se destaca entre as famílias de morcegos encontrados no Brasil, com diversificadas espécies e hábitos alimentares, sendo a única a apresentar representantes frugívoros, podendo ser encontrada tanto em meio urbano, como de vida livre, em busca de melhores condições reprodutivas e alimentares. Essa versatilidade de ambientes pode estar associada à incidência e/ou distribuição de determinadas doenças por agentes patogênicos. O presente trabalho objetivou identificar a microbiota oral e perianal e detectar a resistência bacteriana em morcegos frugívoros capturados próximos às comunidades habitadas pelo homem na região noroeste do estado do Paraná. Foram capturados 68 morcegos, de quatro espécies da família Phyllostomidae, são eles Artibeus lituratus, Artibeus planirostris, Carollia perspicillata e Sturnira lillium, oriundos de fragmentos de Mata da microrregião de Umuarama, estado do Paraná. Um total de 64 isolados de bactérias da região oral e 39 da região perianal foram submetidos, identificação e posteriormente teste de susceptibilidade a 22 antimicrobianos de uso humano e veterinário. As bactérias mais prevalentes foram Escherichia coli 33,3% na região da boca e 35,90% na região perianal, Enterobacter aerogenes 12,7% e 5,13%, Enterobacter agglomerans 7,9% e 10,25% e Serratia liquefaciens 9,5% e 5,13% na região da boca e perianal, respectivamente. Todas as espécies de morcegos estudadas apresentaram cepas que foram resistentes, e algumas multirresistência aos antimicrobianos. A espécie que apresentou maior índice de multirresistência aos antimicrobianos foi Carollia perspicillata, com três cepas na região oral resistente a 15 antimicrobianos, e duas na perianal, com resistência a 13 e 10 antimicrobianos respectivamente. Baseados nos resultados encontrados, é possível concluir que a microbiota oral e perianal de morcegos, é composta por diversas espécies de enterobactérias, resistentes a um, ou vários antimicrobianos utilizados na medicina humana e veterinária, tornando-se um problema, e um alerta futuro para a saúde única, uma vez que foram encontrados elevados percentuais de resistência contra antimicrobianos utilizados em larga escala tais como ampicilina, amoxicilina e amoxicilina+clavulonato.

ABSTRACT: The Phyllostomidae family is important among the bats found in Brazil, with several species and diverse eating habits, and is the only one to have frugivorous representatives. These bats can be found in urban and in wild life environments in search for the best reproductive and feeding conditions. The versatility of environments can be associated with the incidence and/or distribution of some diseases through pathogenic agents. The present paper has the purpose to identify the oral and perianal microbiota and to detect the bacterial resistance of frugivorous bats captured near communities inhabited by humans in the northwestern region of the state of Paraná. A total of 68 bats were captured, belonging to four species of the Phyllostomidae family, namely Artibeus lituratus, Artibeus planirostris, Carollia perspicillata and Sturnira lillium, originated from forest fragments in the micro region of Umuarama, state of Paraná. A total of 64 isolates from oral bacteria and 39 from perianal region were submitted to identification. They were later submitted to a susceptibility test to 22 human and veterinary antimicrobials. The most prevalent bacteria were Escherichia coli 33.3% in the oral region, and 35.90% in the perianal region, Enterobacter aerogenes 12.7% and 5.13%, Enterobacter agglomerans 7.9% and 10.25%, and Serratia liquefaciens 9.5% and 5.13% in the oral and perianal region respectively. All bat species studied had resistant strains, with a few of them presenting multi-resistance to antimicrobials. The species with the highest multi-resistance index to antimicrobials was Carollia perspicillata, with three strains of the oral region resistant to 15 antimicrobials; it also presented two strains in the perianal region, which were resistant to 13 and 10 antimicrobials respectively. Based on the results found, it is possible to conclude that the oral and perianal microbiota of bats is composed of several enterobacterial species resistant to one or several antimicrobials used in human and veterinarian medicine. This is an issue and a future warning for unique health, since high percentages of resistance were found against antimicrobials broadly used, such as ampicillin, amoxicillin and amoxicillin+clavulonate.

Resumo Introdução As disfunções temporomandibulares (DTM) podem comprometer a capacidade mastigatória devido à presença de dor, disfunção muscular e limitação dos movimentos mandibulares. Melhorias substanciais da dor relacionada à DTM podem ser alcançadas através de abordagens terapêuticas incluindo a educação e os autocuidados. Objetivo O objetivo do presente estudo foi investigar o impacto dessas modalidades de tratamento no desempenho mastigatório de mulheres com DTM dolorosa. Material e método Cinquenta e duas mulheres foram divididas aleatoriamente em três grupos: Grupo Controle (CG); Grupo Educação (receberam instruções sobre DTM) (EG); Grupo de Autocuidado e Educação (receberam instruções sobre DTM e instruções sobre terapias de autocuidado) (SEG). As instruções de educação sobre DTM e terapias de autocuidado foram transmitidas através de vídeo e material ilustrativo impresso. O desempenho mastigatório foi avaliado através do método dos tamises com alimentos testes naturais nos períodos de avaliação: atendimento inicial, 30 dias após e ao fim de 60 dias de acompanhamento. Os dados obtidos, em porcentagem, foram analisados e foi utilizado o teste paramétrico ANOVA one-way para comparação das médias dos grupos CG, EG e SEG (α= 0,05). Resultado O desempenho mastigatório dos participantes foi semelhante, independentemente dos tratamentos, no atendimento inicial (p=0,604), após 30 dias (p=0,450) e após 60 dias (p=0,669). Conclusão Os resultados indicam que o tratamento com terapias educativas e de autocuidado durante um período de 60 dias não teve impacto no desempenho mastigatório das mulheres com DTM dolorosa.

Abstract Introduction Temporomandibular disorders (TMD) can compromise masticatory performance due to the presence of pain, muscular dysfunction and limitation of mandibular movements. Substantial improvements in TMD pain can be achieved through therapeutic approaches including education and self-care. Objective The aim of the present study was to investigate the impact of these treatment modalities in the masticatory performance of women with painful TMD. Material and method Fifty-two women were randomly divided into three groups: Control Group (CG); Education Group (received education about TMD) (EG); Self-Care and Education Group (received education about TMD and instructions self-care therapies) (SEG). The education instructions about TMD and self-care therapies were transmitted through a video and printed illustrative material. The masticatory performance was evaluated through the sieves method with natural tested foods in the evaluation periods: baseline evaluation, 30 days after and 60 days of follow-up. Data were analyzed and used with a one-way ANOVA parametric test for mean comparison of CG, EG and SEG groups (α = 0.05). Result The masticatory performance of the participants was similar, irrespective of the proposed treatments, at baseline (p=.604), 30 days (p=.450) and 60 days (p=.669). Conclusions The results indicated that treatment with educational and self-care therapies over a period of 60 days had no impact on the masticatory performance of women with painful TMD.

Abstract INTRODUCTION: the Building Infestation Index (BII) uses the Rapid Assay of the Larval Index for Aedes aegypti (LIRAa) to express the relationship between positive and surveyed properties. We evaluated LIRAa and the relationship between the BII and climate variables for dengue cases in Foz do Iguaçu municipality, Paraná. METHODS: Spearman’s correlations for mean precipitation, mean temperature, BII, and dengue cases (time lag). RESULTS: positive correlations between BII and cases, and mean temperature and cases at two months. Weak correlation between precipitation and cases at three months. CONCLUSIONS: LIRAa and climate variables correlate with dengue cases.

Resumo Este artigo tem como objetivo apresentar e analisar uma experiência de formação interprofissional que ocorre desde 2008, envolvendo estudantes do terceiro ano de graduação dos cursos de Educação Física, Nutrição, Psicologia, Fisioterapia e Terapia Ocupacional de uma universidade pública. Ao longo do semestre, equipes mistas de estudantes, supervisionadas por duplas de docentes, também de diferentes áreas profissionais, realizam atendimentos semanais e elaboram projetos de cuidado para pessoas/grupos selecionados por equipes dos serviços. A metodologia utilizada envolveu a produção de narrativas de situações marcantes vivenciadas por docentes nas atividades de ensino, das quais foram discernidas questões que têm se colocado nesta proposta de formação. A discussão de tais questões indicou as potencialidades de intervenções em comum e os desafios da supervisão docente para sustentar a experiência dos estudantes e possibilitar a constituição de uma clínica que valorize a perspectiva dos usuários.

Abstract This article This article aims to present and analyze an interprofessional education experience that started in 2008 involving third-year students of the undergraduate courses of Physical Education, Nutrition, Psychology, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy of a public university. During the semester, teams of different students supervised by two teachers each, also from different professional areas, provided weekly care service and developed care projects aimed at specific people/groups chosen by the service team. The methodology included the production of narratives of significant situations experienced by the teachers in their education activities. Based on these narratives, the issues presented in this education proposal were detected. The discussion of these issues showed potential common interventions and the challenges faced by teacher supervision in maintaining the students’ experience and enabling the creation of a clinic that values the users’ perspective.

Resumen El objetivo de este artículo es presentar y analizar una experiencia de formación interprofesional que se realiza desde 2008, con estudiantes del tercer año de graduación de los cursos de Educación Física, Nutrición, Psicología, Fisioterapia y Terapia Ocupacional de una universidad pública brasileña. A lo largo del semestre, equipos mixtos de estudiantes, supervisados por dúos de docentes, también de diferentes áreas profesionales, realizan atenciones semanales y elaboran proyectos de cuidado para personas/grupos seleccionados por equipos de los servicios. La metodología utilizada envolvió la producción de narrativas de situaciones señaladas vividas por docentes en las actividades de enseñanza, a partir de las cuales surgieron cuestiones que se plantean en esta propuesta de formación. La discusión de estas cuestiones mostró las potencialidades de intervenciones en común y los desafíos de la supervisión docente para mantener la experiencia de los estudiantes y posibilitar la constitución de una clínica que valore la perspectiva de los usuarios.
